Wedding guest books are quite traditional features to a wedding day, but not everyone wants the standard guestbook. Let’s be honest, they’re slightly old school… People don’t typically want a book of messages that they’ll flick through once and then leave in a box collecting dust. Moreoften than not, people want something that will actually add value to their lives; whether that be something that becomes a work of art in their home, or something that is guaranteed to be revisited. We’re exploring some ideas for wedding guest book alternatives that we’ve seen and loved over the years. Magnum Wine Bottles If you’ve spent your time and effort choosing your wedding wine, we imagine you’d like to enjoy it for years to come. Why not buy a magnum bottle of wine for guests to sign on your wedding day? Or better so, why not buy three bottles of wine for them to sign - one for you to drink on your 1 year anniversary, one on your 5 year anniversary and one on your 10 year anniversary? Audio Messages Audio messages are a fun way to hear the evening from other people’s perspectives. Will they send well-wishes? Will they tell a story? Will they just drunkenly chat into the void? You just don’t know what will come out of one of these, and that’s what makes it so exciting. Jigsaws/Jenga Jigsaws, jenga, games, etc, are a great idea for the couple that would enjoy something quirky and fun for guests to get involved with. Whether it be a jigsaw where they have to ‘place a piece’ or decorate/sign it first, it can be kept by the newly-weds as a puzzle, a piece of art for a wall, or a coffee table piece. Message in a Bottle If you like the traditional guestbook but want something a little quirkier, why don’t you opt for a message in a bottle? Not only is it something pretty and interesting to look at, making guests are more inclined to get involved, but it is something that can be transferred as a decor piece to your home. Fingerprint Art For the artistic couples, there is always the option of a collaborative piece of art. With many options including fingerprint art, guests can be involved in an easy way, where they can see the progress as more and more guests get involved The only draw back of this option, is that it is very very obvious if people don’t get involved and it can caise the outcome to be underwhelming… Although it wouldn’t take a lot for your wedding planner to round up the troops. Vinyl Record A vinyl record is one for the music lovers. Maybe you fell in love over a particular track? Maybe you want to commemorate your first dance? Getting your guests to sign a vinyl is a unique way to remember a special detail about your love story along with your guests. Postcards
A travelling couple might like to share their love of the world with their guests. Get your guests to choose and fill in a postcard from a place you’ve travelled together (or a place you’re going next) and post it through the the post box. Type a Line If you’re still into the traditional guest book idea, why not bring in a typewriter? This gives people the chance to write a one-line message in a quirky manner, that could be framed and displayed. LEGO People Entertain children and adults alike by providing pots of LEGO pieces for guests to build their avatar. Then you can see all your guests lined up the way they present themselves. Let us know how you brought your guest book to life for your guests! Written by Siobhan Tinnion Events & Marketing Manager
